Most entertainment events relegate blockchain to the undercard. Decentralization gets a single panel in the later hours of the afternoon, and most of the session is taken up defining terms to an understandably bewildered audience. Blockchain has potential to fix some deep problems in the entertainment, rewarding artists properly for their work while reducing everyone’s transaction and distribution costs. But, unless there is a a space for industry leaders in entertainment and tech to meaningfully collaborate, these issues will go unsolved. The entertainment industry will remain deeply flawed. Blockchain will miss out on a mainstream use case.
That’s why we created Screenbreaker, a new festival series devoted entirely to the intersection of entertainment and blockchain. Our events afford an opportunity for a deep dive into the problems of the entertainment industry and the potential solutions offered by blockchain.
