Top-10 Mobile Crypto Wallets 0.97

Choosing the best wallet for your crypto is not an easy task. Web is filled with paid articles and "native ads" that shill random wallets with zero credibility.

While storing any significant amount of crypto on a smartphone is a bad idea, everyone who works in this god forsaken industry should have some crypto to use on the go or his Cryptokitty on hand to brag to a random Uber driver.

We have performed our own research and selected top-10 wallets. While we do not guarantee that all of the following wallets are safe to use, have all the features you need etc, one might assume just by judging from the amount of downloads, that they are your best choice if you are looking for mobile wallet.

1. Blockchain wallet

Self-described as:

The #1 cryptocurrency wallet for those looking to transform the financial system right from their pocket. Join millions of Blockchain wallet users in over 140 countries today! We may be one small app for man, but we still have one global mission for mankind.

They for sure don't lie about "millions of wallet users" - according to our data, Blockchain Wallet has 3.7M downloads across both platforms. Plenty of reviews and nice 4.5 rating on Google Play:

 2. BRD

BRD is the simple and secure onramp to bitcoin, ethereum, and other digital currencies.

With a little less than 1M downloads, BRD (ex-Bread) wallet gets silver medal:

3. Coinomi

With a really well-crafted website, Coinomi gets third place with 910K downloads and a decent 4.4 Google Play rating:

Securely store, manage and exchange Bitcoin, Ethereum, and more than 500 other blockchain assets.

4. Jaxx

Jaxx Liberty was developed by Anthony Di Iorio, co-founder of Ethereum, and founder and CEO of Decentral Inc. Anthony created Jaxx in 2015 because he saw that, as we move toward an age of value, people need an easy way to manage their digital assets and virtual lives — much like the move to browsers to navigate the Web in an age of information.

Jaxx seems to be moving user to a new version, "Jaxx Liberty", therefore ratings for this app are few but a solid 4.1 (previous version has mere 3.1):

5. Abra

Abra is the only app in the world that allows you to buy, store, and invest in 28 cryptocurrencies all-in-one place securely. Fund your account using bank transfer, credit/debit card, bitcoin, bitcoin cash, or litecoin and start investing in cryptocurrencies.

With 4.0 rating and 810K downloads, Abra wallet gets the fifth place:

6. Mycelium

They brag:

Tested by hundreds of thousands of users for many years. No alternative has more stars on google play.

This is funny: literally almost every other wallet app on Google Play has higher rating than Mycelium (which has 4.0), so please stop lying:

7. Enjin

The Enjin Crypto Smart Wallet foundation rests on our top-of-the-line security architecture. It employs innovative security techniques such as the Enjin Secure Keyboard, rule of two encryption and other measures to turn your smartphone into a hardware-like secure blockchain wallet.

With 4.6 rating (and mere 340K downloads), Enjin is the most loved wallet app on the market on par with Trust:

8. Electrum

Securing Bitcoin payments since 2011, Electrum is one of the most popular Bitcoin wallets.

One of the oldest wallets, but clearly lacking in functionality with incredibly low rating:

9. Copay

Copay is a true bitcoin wallet, not an account service. Secure your personal funds with multiple signatures, or just one.

270K downloads, solid 4.5 rating:

10. Trust

Secure wallet for Ethereum, ERC20 and ERC223 tokens.

Binance's latest acquisition has one of the highest ratings in this review:

Q: But all these wallets have different features! You cannot compare them by merely estimating downloads!!!

A: Yes, we can.

Q: Why do you compare Google Play ratings and not iOS ratings?

A: iOS users are in general much more critical compared to Android users. Most apps in this review has lower ratings on iOS. So we're basically doing them a huge favour.

Q: Where's the data from?

A: Datamagic

Q: Can I send you link to my crypto wallet?

A: As soon as you have more than 270K downloads and can prove it.

Q: You forgot Coinbase!

A: We did not. The main app is not a wallet per se. But if we included Coinbase in the list, it would have taken the first place with ~10M downloads across both platforms. Coinbase Wallet (ex-Toshi) wouldn't have gotten in the top-10 at all (with ~36K combined downloads).
